Ms. Ferrier was arrested on Sept. 20, 2020, days after she mailed the ricin letters. When she was driving from Canada to Buffalo, she instructed border officers that she was wished by the F.B.I. for sending the letters. The authorities then found that Ms. Ferrier was touring with a loaded firearm, a whole bunch of rounds of ammunition, two knives, a stun gun, pepper spray, a truncheon and a faux ID, based on courtroom filings.
In every of the 9 letters that she despatched, Ms. Ferrier mentioned that if the “special gift,” referring to the ricin, didn’t work, she would “find a better recipe for another poison,” based on courtroom paperwork.

After the letters had been detected, “mass destruction coordinators” and dangerous supplies specialists had been deployed to a number of places within the United States to intercept them, and so they had been later despatched for extra testing, based on courtroom paperwork.
In March 2019, whereas Ms. Ferrier was dwelling within the United States, she was arrested by the police in Mission, Texas, and charged with possession of an unlicensed weapon, resisting arrest and carrying a faux driver’s license. While she was in custody in Texas, the authorities found that Ms. Ferrier had overstayed a six-month visa, and she or he was deported to Canada.
