A homeless shelter in El Paso, Texas, launched a video displaying what the group mentioned was Customs and Border Protection officers apprehending an individual outdoors of its welcome heart.
The Opportunity Center for the Homeless posted the surveillance video, which reveals somebody who seems to be in regulation enforcement pushing the individual as much as the teal home windows on the entrance of the constructing after which slamming the individual to the bottom and handcuffing them.
Another one that seems to be in regulation enforcement stands over them.
The group says the surveillance video was taken at 11:50 a.m. on January 6.
It is unclear what led as much as the incident. Act Daily News reached out to the Opportunity Center for the Homeless Sunday evening to inquire in regards to the individual’s whereabouts or situation following the January 6 incident and whether or not there was any further video taken earlier than or after the footage that was shared on social media.
Opportunity Center for the Homeless founder Ray Tullius issued a press release saying, “Through the years, the Opportunity Center for the Homeless has had a respectful and long-standing working relationship with regulation enforcement officers locally.
“[On Friday], a person receiving providers on the Welcome Center, situated at 201 E. ninth Avenue, was apprehended in entrance of the ability by Customs and Border Protection officers with what appears to us to be extreme pressure.
“To our knowledge, this is an isolated incident. However, it raises our concerns for the well-being of the individual taken into custody and all the guests receiving services in our homeless programs. As we have done it for the last twenty-nine years, the Opportunity Center for the Homeless will continue to extend a helping hand to those in need of help,” the assertion reads.
In a press release, US Customs and Border Protection mentioned its Office of Professional Responsibility is reviewing the incident.
“Although, at the moment we do not have all the details of what occurred during this incident, CBP takes all allegations of misconduct seriously, investigates thoroughly, and holds employees accountable when policies are violated,” the company mentioned.
