Centre proposes allowing non-govt entities to use Aadhaar authentication

The Centre has launched a draft of a proposal to permit non-government and state entities to authenticate Aadhaar for higher supply of companies to residents. In its draft proposal, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has sought public feedback on the draft guidelines by May 5.

As per the proposed amendments, the foundations will enable entities aside from the ministries and central or state authorities departments to hunt permission for Aadhaar authentication for sure functions.

“Further, it is proposed to include the promoting of ease of living of residents and enabling of better access to services for them as one of the prescribed purposes,” the ministry stated in a notice explaining the proposed amendments.

The draft has proposed that non-government entities which wish to use the Aadhaar authentication ought to put together a proposal which particulars the justification of the aim for which it is going to be used. The proposal will then be submitted to the involved ministry or division, which is able to then vet the proposal.
