Nick Kyrgios is a last-second harm withdrawal on the United Cup.
The Aussie broke the news on Thursday, simply forward of Day 1 of the 18-team competitors, which kicks off the 2022 tennis season throughout Perth, Sydney and Brisbane.

Twenty second-ranked Kyrgios, who was set to steer Australia as its top-ranked participant, was scheduled to face off with Great Britain’s Cameron Norrie on Thursday night in Sydney. He shall be changed by Alex de Minaur in Group D motion, whereas World No.107 Jason Kubler slips into the No.2 spot.
The news got here as a little bit of a shock to Kyrgios’ Aussie teammates.
“We literally just found out 10 minutes ago. Obviously it’s news to all of us and we just move forward now,” Australian co-captain Sam Stosur informed reporters.
Kyrgios has reportedly been coping with an ankle harm which was sustained throughout an exhibition in Dubai final week.
