“Gus had done a terrific rebuild, he has got Kikau, Mahoney, Crichton to go with Burton and Addo-Carr, but there is a long history of when he gets bored and has done his rebuild, interfering with the coaching of NRL clubs.
“This goes back to Ricky Stuart at the Roosters, to Ivan Cleary to Anthony Griffin, Trent Barrett.”
Kent questioned if Ciraldo can be given a “grace period” and defined he believes Gould might sit again and “look at how he performs”.

“I just look at his history and think two or three losses, how is the tension going to be and will he be able to help himself and leave Cameron to coach the side.”
Despite his issues, Rothfield praised Gould’s rebuild of the Bulldogs after ending sixteenth and twelfth during the last two seasons.
Canterbury-Bankstown recruited Reed Mahoney, Viliame Kikau and Ryan Sutton for the 2023 season, becoming a member of Matt Burton and Josh Addo-Carr.
