Bulldogs coach Cameron Ciraldo has slammed his facet’s defence and self-discipline whereas captain Reed Mahoney admitted video games aren’t “enjoyable” after their facet’s 42-6 loss to the Knights.

“Discipline around hitting and sticking tackles, and covering each other’s missed tackles was poor
“Not good enough defensively, our principles weren’t strong enough but I liked how we stayed with it in the second half.. we did a lot better in the second half
“You can’t win games when you complete at 60% and lose penalty counts the way we did but it shouldn’t blow out to a score like that.”
Poor defence has been the story of the Bulldogs season, with Ciraldo arriving from Penrith with an awesome repute as a defensive coach.
The coach stated he was shocked with the efficiency his facet dished out after an “elite level” of preparation throughout the week.
When requested if he anticipated that from the Bulldogs, Ciraldo responded with “no I didn’t.”
“I thought we had our best week of preparation probably all season. Our intensity and commitment to preparation at training was elite level, but it’s one week,” Ciraldo stated.

“To be a good team and win games you got to do that week on week on week for a long periods of time. I think we’ve just found out how to prepare like an elite team should, so if we keep preparing the week we’ve done this week, the wins will come in the future.
“Our middle defence wasn’t great tonight. I think we had 5-6 tries come through us and you just cannot do that.”
Mahoney lower a extra dejected determine on the presser, believing his facet’s defence wasn’t vicious sufficient.
“Not much to say. We turned the ball over too many times and gave them easy field position,” Mahoney stated.

“It’s a hard game to play at the best of time. We don’t hold the ball and you make more tackles.
“They ran harder than us, made more plays but yeah we just tackled too much.
“Too many times we weren’t vicious enough with our defence, especially off the kick-offs. We have a lot of practice to do during the week to get it right because it’s happening a lot. Games can’t keep blowing out to 40 points, it doesn’t get enjoyable.
“I feel sorry for the boys, they are working really hard.”
The Bulldogs will get their likelihood to bounce again towards the Raiders subsequent Sunday, one other group who can be hungry to avenge a heavy loss in Round 24.
