CODE-hopping pioneer Wendell Sailor says Payne Haas shall be “wasted” in rugby union however has backed Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii’s choice to stop the NRL and swap to rugby.
A legend who performed on the highest degree in each codes, Sailor advised CODE Sports he expects extra NRL stars will quickly comply with Suaalii in defecting to rugby as a result of the mixture of higher pay and the lure of showing in a house World Cup was too good a possibility to show down.

“I would like Payne Haas to remain in rugby league. If rugby union will get him, good luck to them however I feel he‘d be a waste in union,” Sailor said.

While Sailor’s time in rugby ended together with his two-year ban after testing optimistic for cocaine, he wouldn’t change a factor about his choice to go away rugby league and pursue the rival code.
“Not for a minute do I regret it,” Sailor mentioned.
“I played 37 Tests for the Wallabies and I got to see the world.”
