All-rounder Chloe Tryon and South Africa’s bowlers saved the host nation’s hopes alive when it defeated New Zealand by 65 runs in a Women’s T20 World Cup match at Boland Park in Paarl on Monday.
Tryon made 40 as South Africa struggled to 132 for six in its 20 overs after selecting to bat on a pitch that was getting used for the fourth successive match.
It proved to be greater than sufficient as New Zealand was bowled out for 67.
Left-arm spinner Nonkululeko Mlaba struck twice within the first three overs of New Zealand’s innings and the White Ferns have been unable to recuperate. It was successfully a must-win sport for each groups after they each misplaced of their opening video games.
Mlaba completed with three for ten in her 4 overs — her greatest figures in T20 internationals.

But New Zealand’s batting failed once more, much more fully than once they have been bowled out for 76 by Australia on the similar venue on Saturday.
