When the YoYo tests were first launched six years ago, during the tenure of former Strength & Conditioning coach Shankar Basu, the cut-off was 16.1, but the marker has since been updated to 16.5.
Most of the young Indian players are in great shape these days. Gill’s 18.7 is evidence of this, given that he has played nonstop cricket since the start of the IPL.
The only significant break he received since March came three weeks after the conclusion of the West Indies 50-over series.
