After a seven-wicket defeat in opposition to Scotland of their first match of the ‘Super Six’ stage within the ongoing qualifying match in Zimbabwe, the West Indies have been eradicated from the competitors.
The Windies put up simply 181 on the board, and the Scots reached house with six overs to spare.
“It’s (cricket) not an individual thing or a territorial thing. We’ve got to come together as a region… and really, really think about how we we want to go forward as a group and make it happen,” Holder, one of many world’s prime all-rounders stated in the course of the post-match press convention on Saturday.
The associations of Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, Leeward Islands, Trinidad & Tobago and Windward Islands collectively make up Cricket West Indies.
Holder lamented that the West Indies group could not put it throughout Scotland to maintain their hopes alive.
“We knew what was at stake and we still had a chance to qualify. We had a really good opportunity to play Scotland and beat them (but) we didn’t do that.
“This might be one of many lowest factors I’ve had with the group. But, you already know, there are nonetheless numerous positives. I used to be actually glad for Nicholas Pooran, the best way he performed by means of this whole competitors. And, it is good to see a number of the youthful guys get a chance on the large stage,” he stated.
The all-rounder indicated that work must be carried out from grassroots and up.
“It’s not a quick-fix, it is one thing we have to spend time on. As I stated, improvement (at grassroots) is a very powerful factor, the place we will simply put issues in place and develop our expertise. Hopefully, within the subsequent couple of years we will see the fruits of that crop.”
The dwindling performance of the team over the past few years made this exit almost inevitable.
“There have been too many fluctuations between good performances and dangerous performances (in the previous couple of years) and it is a matter for us to grasp the place we’re and all of us must put our arms on the deck to make it (turnaround) occur.”
“We want to have a look at the degrees under (age-group and home cricket) as effectively and take a look at our greatest to enhance them as effectively. So, when these younger guys get right here (senior stage), they’ve a very good basis. We all must put our arms up and be accounted for as people.
“We just didn’t play well enough. We haven’t been playing well enough maybe over the past couple of years,” he added.
