While the numbers might seem underwhelming on paper, with only one wicket and 14 runs in 11 overs, Washington discovered a glimmer of hope in his efficiency, viewing it as a catalyst for his future journey.
“The Duleep Trophy is very important because performing here will instil confidence and belief in our skills. The more red-ball games I play, the more experience I will gain and the more I will learn. “Obviously, it’s mentally challenging. I do everything possible to strengthen my muscles and ensure quick recovery from injuries. Challenges are a part of everyone’s daily life, and it’s the same for a cricketer. I just need to find a way to overcome them and remain focused on the present. I make sure my work ethics and routine remain unaffected,” shared the off-spinner.
Washington lately returned to donning the Indian jersey after a year-long hiatus throughout the white-ball sequence in opposition to New Zealand in 2023. The all-rounder is hopeful that extra alternatives lie forward and is decided to enhance and carry out each time he will get the prospect.
“I need to get better and perform wherever I have the opportunity. That’s the only thing I should be thinking about. Every single day, when I wake up, I ensure that I maintain my routine and work ethics to stay at the top of my game,” concluded Washington Sundar.
