A species of clam regarded as extinct has been discovered alive. The solely earlier proof of the species was from a fossil collected in 1937.

Jeffrey Goddard on the University of California, Santa Barbara, made the sudden discovery in 2018 whereas exploring the close by shores of Naples Point. During his search of the rocky tidal space, Goddard was instantly intrigued by a pair of centimetre-long clams, every waving an equally lengthy white-striped foot.
