A free-ranging Burmese python in Florida has laid 96 eggs in a single go – the most important quantity ever documented for this species.
Burmese pythons (Python bivittatus) are native to South-East Asia, however tens of hundreds now dwell within the Everglades and surrounding areas in southern Florida, after some that had been imported as pets escaped within the Nineteen Seventies and established a breeding inhabitants.
