Two species of hen have been noticed brooding in the identical nest and elevating offspring collectively.
Such cooperative breeding between completely different species has by no means been documented earlier than, says Rosario Balestrieri on the Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn of Naples, Italy. “It is a very strange and rare situation, in which the brood is mixed between the two species,” he says.
