Farming is devastating the planet. But there might be a way more environmentally pleasant approach to feed ourselves: utilizing renewable vitality to show carbon dioxide into meals.

“This is becoming a reality,” says Pasi Vainikka at Solar Foods. The firm is constructing the primary commercial-scale manufacturing unit, close to Helsinki in Finland, that may be capable of make meals immediately from CO₂. It will produce 100 tonnes per 12 months, sufficient for 4 or 5 million meals, he says. “We are a bit behind schedule, but production may start just about in 2023,” says Vainikka.
