There is even a definite order in the best way the meals is served on the banana leaf throughout an Onam Sadhya. Pappadum is positioned on the acute left of the leaf. On the highest of the massive pappadum, banana is served. Starting from the fitting of the papad, salt, sarakarapuratti and banana wafers are positioned. Only after this, ginger lime and mango pickles are served on the leaf. On the fitting, ‘cabbage thoran‘ is served. Finally avial and kuttu curry are served.

Rice is served solely after the visitors are seated in entrance of the leaves. Only two spoons of rice is taken into account sufficient for the splendid feast. Ghee is drizzled generously over the rice. Rice is the principle dish served with various aspect dishes and curries that are collectively known as Kootan. Poured over the rice are dishes like pulissery, sambhar and rasam.
