About this week’s large field workplace conflict – Greta Gerwig’s Barbie and Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer hit the screens on Friday and each the Hollywood movies managed to carry out effectively on the Indian field workplace. According to a Box Office India report, Oppenheimer earned a whopping Rs 13.50 crore web on the opening day, abandoning the opening day collections of movies like Fast X and Mission Impossible (each had garnered around12 crore web). “Oppeneheimer set the box office on fire with collections of 13.50 crore net,” learn an excerpt from the report.
Meanwhile, Barbie‘s opening day assortment in India was nowhere near that of Oppeneheimer. However, it was largely adept at incomes Rs 4.25-4.50 crore web on day one.
Deconstructing the field workplace report of Oppenheimer, Box Office India talked about that the Hindi model of the movie accounted for 10% of the collections. “The film scored big numbers across all the major centres across the country with the bigger metros leading the way. There is a big contribution from the South which is a huge plus for English films as compared to Hindi films. Mumbai city which now struggles for Hindi films was also outstanding for Oppenheimer,” learn an excerpt from Box Office India’s report.
Oppenheimer is a biopic of Robert Oppenheimer, the thoughts behind the world’s first atomic bomb. The movie options Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr, Florence Pugh and Rami Malek, amongst many others. The movie opened to stellar evaluations from movie critics. In his assessment for NDTV, movie critic Saibal Chatterjee gave the movie 4.5 stars out of 5 and he wrote, “Oppenheimer, a cinematic achievement of blinding brilliance, achieves a sublime combination of visual grandeur, technical flair, emotional intimacy and an examination of the limits of human endeavour and ambition.”
Barbie, which stars Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Dua Lipa, Simu Liu, Ariana Greenblatt, Michael Cera and Emma Mackey amongst others, has been directed by Greta Gerwig. Film critic Saibal Chatterjee gave the movie 3.5 stars out of 5 in his assessment for NDTV and he wrote, “Margot Robbie’s magnetic allure is accentuated by Ryan Gosling’s flat-out and gleeful interpretation of Ken, whose existence isn’t complete without being in Barbie’s gaze. In the film, it is Gosling who, in significant impactful ways, completes Margot Robbie’s performance.”
