Europa League champion Sevilla and Copa Sudamericana winner Independiente del Valle will face one another within the “Club Challenge” match, a brand new intercontinental conflict launched by UEFA and CONMEBOL on Friday.
As a part of the cooperation settlement between the European and South American confederations, the pilot version of the match between the Ecuadorean and Spanish groups might be performed on July 19 on the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan stadium in Seville.

“The Club Challenge is a one-off fixture played over 90 minutes. There is no extra time, so if the tie is level at the end of regulation time, it goes straight to penalties,” CONMEBOL stated in a press release. “The winners will receive a plaque and medals specially designed for the occasion,” it added.
This version might be named “Antonio Puerta XII” in honour of the previous Sevilla participant who died in 2007, aged 22, after struggling a cardiac arrest.
The Finalissima, that includes the winners of the lads’s and ladies’s European Championships in opposition to the Copa America holders, can also be a part of the cooperation settlement between the governing our bodies.
