Bayern Munich condemned racial abuse focusing on defender Dayot Upamecano on social media on Wednesday following the group’s Champions League loss to Manchester City.
Abusive messages had been left as feedback beneath a current put up on Upamecano’s Instagram account after he made an important mistake resulting in a purpose.
“All of us at FC Bayern condemn racism in the strongest possible terms! The entire club stands behind you, Upa!” Bayern’s membership account posted within the feedback.
Upamecano confronted the abuse following the 3-0 loss within the first leg of Bayern’s quarterfinal towards Man City on Tuesday, wherein he misplaced possession earlier than City’s second purpose. The 24-year-old Upamecano has performed for Bayern as a central defender since 2021 and has performed 14 instances for the French nationwide group.
