NEW DELHI: A little bit of a misunderstanding and confusion kick-started the Kolkata Knight Riders versus Royal Challengers Bangalore conflict on the Eden Gardens after match referee Shakti Singh heard the unsuitable name from RCB skipper Faf du Plessis on the toss.
Du Plessis referred to as heads after KKR skipper Nitish Rana gave the coin a flip however the match referee Shakti one way or the other heard the RCB skipper calling it tails amid loud cheers from the followers.
Commentator Sanjay Manjrekar, who was initiating the toss proceedings did hear it proper, confirming Du Plessis’ name and corrected the match referee. Nitish initially appeared upset however then rapidly accepted the corrected name from the match referee

Du Plessis later whereas speaking to Manjrekar on the toss laughingly mentioned that the confusion may need been due to his accent.
Both groups made a change every to their sides. Injured Reece Topley was changed by David Willy in RCB XI whereas 19-year-old leggie debutant Suyash Sharma changed Anukul Roy for KKR.
