Algerian defender Jaouen Hadjam was dropped from Nantes squad earlier than its defeat by Stade de Reims in Ligue 1 on Sunday after insisting on not breaking his Ramadan quick, his supervisor Antoine Kombouare mentioned.
Hadjam joined Nantes in January from Paris FC, and has featured in 9 league matches to this point.
“Jaouen? There is no controversy. Those who fast, I support them… On matchdays, you should not fast,” Kombouare advised a news convention after the group’s 3-0 house defeat.
“It is not a punishment. I set rules. It’s his choice and I respect it,” he added.
Local reviews mentioned the 20-year-old agreed solely to interrupt his quick in away matches. The holy interval of Ramadan will finish on April 20.
Nantes is 14th within the standings on 30 factors, 4 above the relegation zone.
France-born Hadjam determined final month to characterize Algeria, and performed in its 1-0 victory over Niger.
