Asia-Oceania World Juniors: India beat Hong Kong
The Indian women sustained their good run and beat seventh seed Hong Kong 2-0 within the final league match of group D within the Asia-Oceania World Junior under-14 tennis match in Kuching, Malaysia, on Wednesday.
Having overwhelmed Singapore and Lebanon earlier, the Indian staff topped the group and can play Kazakhstan, which completed second to Australia in group-A.
Hong Kong, which completed second in India’s group, will problem Australia, whereas Thailand, Japan, Uzbekistan and Korea had been the opposite groups to make the quarterfinals.
The Captain of the staff, Namita Bal, was proud of the efficiency of the staff to this point and felt that it was a studying expertise for the women.
“For now, we are focusing on recovery, staying fit, staying fresh because that is the biggest advantage we have over Kazakhstan”, stated Namita.
RESULT
Group-D: India bt Hong Kong 2-0 (Harithashree Venkatesh bt Sum Yuet Charlotte Lam 6-3, 6-0; Maaya Rajeshwaran bt Yui Hei Hebe Leung 7-5, 6-3).
