Sequoia Capital stepped down from the board of controversial crime-watch app Citizen, telling the corporate it wouldn’t be part of its newest funding spherical, the Financial Times reported.
Citizen, which has beforehand raised about $133 million from backers together with Peter Thiel’s Founders Fund, has over 9 million customers and operates in 60 cities throughout the US, in keeping with its web site. The app permits customers to live-stream crimes and entry reviews from 911 calls.
Sequoia had been amongst Citizen’s first and largest backers, appointing accomplice Mike Vernal to the app’s board. Vernal is claimed to have resigned earlier this month after administration had proposed a deal to boost new funds and recapitalize the business.
Sequoia declined the Financial Times’s request to remark, whereas Citizen didn’t reply.
