LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Soldiers from Fort Knox can pay tribute to former President Zachary Taylor at a wreath-laying ceremony in Kentucky.
The ceremony at Zachary Taylor National Cemetery in Louisville might be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, the Army publish mentioned in a press release.
Fort Knox says that every 12 months, the U.S. navy places a wreath on the gravesite of every deceased former president on the anniversary of their births. Maj. Gen. Edward Merrigan Jr., commanding common of the 84th Training Command, will host the ceremony and an honor guard from his unit will help with the wreath laying.
Taylor, the nation’s twelfth president, grew up in Louisville earlier than becoming a member of the Army in 1808. He was sworn into workplace as president in 1849 and served for 16 months till his loss of life in 1850.
