As the police in Maine proceed their search early Thursday for the suspect, dozens of presidency buildings, native faculty districts and universities within the southern portion of the state are closed, following recommendation from the authorities for residents of the realm to remain house or shelter in place.

Bates College in Lewiston canceled lessons Thursday.
