Bayer Leverkusen has signed Croatia defender Josip Stanisic on mortgage from Bundesliga rival Bayern Munich for the remainder of the season.
Leverkusen introduced the transfer on Sunday.
Sporting director Simon Rolfes stated Stanisic would “intensify the competition within our squad. He is a very ambitious player who will increase the quality of the squad further.”
The 23-year-old Stanisic, who was a part of Croatia’s World Cup squad final 12 months, made 14 Bundesliga appearances for Bayern final season – 10 instead – and was deemed surplus to necessities by coach Thomas Tuchel.

He will present Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso with an alternative choice in defence. Stanišić is primarily a right-back however can play throughout the again line.
