Government organisations have confronted 1,12,474 cyber safety incidents until June this 12 months, minister for electronics and IT Ashwini Vaishnaw mentioned within the Lok Sabha on Wednesday in a written response.
The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), which has the mandate of monitoring and monitoring cybersecurity incidents in India, reported 70798, 85797, 54314, 48285, 192439 and 112474 cyber safety incidents associated to authorities organisations or programs for the years 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 (upto June), respectively, the minister mentioned.
“With innovation in technology and rise in usage of the cyberspace and digital infrastructure for businesses and services, cyber-attacks pose a threat to confidentiality, integrity and availability of data and services, which may have direct or indirect impact on the organisation,” he mentioned. “Such impact is specific to the impacted entity, and depends on the extent to which its data, assets and services are affected by such attacks.”
Further, information introduced by minister of state for electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar in a separate reply within the Lok Sabha confirmed that monetary establishments noticed 6168, 700548, 862073, 826978 and 429847 incidents in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 (upto June), respectively.
Further, central ministries/departments and state authorities organisations have seen 36 incidents until June this 12 months, with 54, 59, 42 and 50 incidents respectively in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022.

“The government is continuously engaged in formulating policies and setting technical standards in the cyberspace to holistically ensure accessible internet and to mitigate threats & vulnerabilities in the cyberspace,” Chandrasekhar mentioned.
